realMYST for Mac Update - on 10/17/01 @ 9:58 am EST

Apple owners have been awaiting Cyan to finish and tweak the Mac version of realMYST now for almost a year, but perhaps the wait is almost at an end. UbiSoft have reported that Cyan have decided to hand over the final programming of the game to a different company whilst they themselves continue work on "Mud Pie". Although this company has not been named, it has been said that it is not the Japanese company "Sunsoft", who did most of the pleminary work to turn MYST into real-time.

SystemLogic.net has posted a review on Myst III: Exile. "Games don't have to be adrenaline-filled Twinkies of twitch-gameplay. Miss the good ol' days of graphic adventures? For a soothing and relaxing, yet challenging beauty of a mind-bender, Myst III: Exile is a great way to escape." The overall rating was 9/10. Check out the review by clicking here.

Bulletin Board Problems - on 6/11/01 @ 9:17 am EST
You may have noticed there are some problems with the bulletin board if you try to retrieve your password. The problem should be cleared up within 72 hours. The problem is that I changed some of my domain's mail setting in order to provide free e-mail but in doing that it caused some errors in programs using e-mail features. So, no free e-mail for now. Thanks for your patience.

New Mudpie Info and Screenshot - on 6/05/01 @ 1:39 pm EST
Below is an article grabbed from the Riven Unofficial Home Page about new Mudpie stuff:

The Adrenaline Vault has an interview with Cyan's chief technology officer, Brice Tebbs. In it he discusses Cyan's "Mudpie" project, which will be a 3D, multiplayer game that will require players to have broadband Internet access.
Brice says their goal is photo-realistic renderings in real-time with the same quality as in Riven. He also says that they'd like to give players to ability to create their own worlds in some fashion, although that's not their highest priority.
The article also includes a new Mudpie screen shot. Cyan later sent me a copy of that shot and I noticed that the file name indicates that Cyan calls the scene the "Great Shaft."

Exile Patch 1.2 Released - on 6/02/01 @ 11:35 am EST
"Ubi Soft has posted the Exile patch version 1.2. This patch is for PCs only; they are still working on a Mac patch. This patch fixes all the problems corrected by the 1.1 patch and it also fixes the "M3.exe" bug that prevented the game from running on some video cards."

RivenGuild Closed - on 6/01/01 @ 12:51 pm EST
It very sad news for the MYST Internet community today as Gordon Currie announces the closure of his fan site, RivenGuild. After recently losing his position of webmaster of realmyst.com and myst3.com, Gordon's association with publishers UbiSoft has terminated - including the funding he got from UbiSoft for the Guild. With an increasing number of hits at the site, mainly due to the recent release of Exile (totalling up to 15,000 hints a day), Gordon Currie could not afford the self funded server fees any more, and had no choice but to close.
The fan community is now divided across the net, and there are still many MYST related boards out there, including the ones at this very site. But as a Grandfather and hub of the community, the RivenGuild is no more.

New Support Information - on 5/12/01 @ 11:17 am EST
Ubi Soft has put a support FAQ on their site. This should help you out with some of your problems. They also have a new Disc 1, which fixes the majority of known 'bugs' in Exile. The update CD is currently in production and will be mailed out in the coming days. I have no idea why they don't just release a patch. But their goal is to provide high quality customer service as well as a high quality game experience. So I'm not complaining. To read the FAQ click here to order a free new Disc 1 click here.
